Unit 43.2/Moral Panic/Secondary Research

Moral Panic

Moral panic in the media industry is when an event happens so suddenly that can upset the public.
Dog attacks are huge in the news right now and have been for the past year. dog attacks are a massive moral panic and people are protesting for new law to come in. Its not just stray dogs that attack children and young people, more family dogs are getting or already more dangerous than before.
'Each year, approximately 28,000 facial dog bites are reported in the UK, with just over 19,000 of them requiring plastic surgery.'
The quote itself shows how serious every incident is and how so many  people are protesting for every dog in UK to be licensed. A lot of dog attacks happen every year and my argument is that i think every dog should have a license; in my opinion i think less children will get attacked because all dogs would have been checked over by police to make sure there safe. Unfortunately, not every child in the country will be able to prevent being attacked by a dog, however i believe licensing dogs will help reduce it.
