Unit 43.2/Analysing Radio Shows/BBC Radio 2.

BBC Radio 2

BBC Radio 2 is one of the BBC's national radio stations that first aired on the 30th September 1967, (the same date BBC Radio 1 first aired) and is the most popular station in the United Kingdom. It ranks 1st many different regions. 82% of the listeners are over the age of 35, although in in the recent years, day time playlists attracted more younger listeners This is because Radio 2  features music from this decade, also including albums and indie music. Weekday evening features include
different types of music: blues, country and western, classic rock and also documentaries, and biographies which would attracts the older audience,
All BBC radio stations that broadcast to the UK audiences are funded by the television licence fee, this means that all radio BBC radio stations do not broadcast advertisements.
Radio 2 is now termed "the nation's favourite", The motto that was originally used for BBC Radio 1. As BBC Radio 2 is now the most listened to station in the UK.
BBC Radio 2 wouldn't be my first choice if I had to pick a favourite, however it does present features that I enjoy listening too. I like to listen to different genres of music, indie being one of my favourite, but I prefer radio shows like BBC Radio 1 which is more suited to my age group.
