My Proposal

My idea for the radio factual i will be making is about whether or not every dog owner in the country should have a licence, or whether dog owners should be checked over by police, to make sure they are being brought up correctly and decide if its safe for them to own a dog. The reason why I have chosen to create my podcast on this is because around the end of December 2013, my brother was attacked by a pit bull, he was affected massively and I feel creating a radio podcast about the topic is relevant.

He was in hospital for 6 days and needed 3 operations including plastic surgery on his right leg. After leaving the hospital, it left huge issues at home that my mum had to deal with; problems involved, my mum finding another job, due to the fact that she had to leave her other job to look after my younger brother, and I had to stay away for a while as my mum couldn't take care for us both.

As much as an effect the attack had on Louis, it also caused many problems in the family, and is one of the reasons why I am creating radio factual on this subject. I think it is important to get the message across to other people. I also feel that by talking about a personal story like this one, it might get the message across to people that a dog attack could happen to anyone, as well as this I think it will be easier to talk about as i was involved in the situation. Another reason why I am doing this is because dog attacks are creating a massive moral panic at the moment, more and more children are getting attacked or seriously injured, even more than last year and the year before.

Not only do young people get attacked but people of an older age are also being targeted. In the future, i feel that if every dog was licensed less people would be attacked, even though not all dog attacks can be stopped, I think that by licensing will reduce it massively. Which is a reason why i am i have chosen to create a radio podcast on this subject idea.

The genre of my radio podcast will be in the format of a documentary. I have decided to this because 

The subject i have chosen to talk about is a serious subject, and the idea was inspired by my brother that attacked earlier this year, which is a personal story which as well interviews would best fit the format of a documentary.
